PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Full stack Web Development program is intensive and 100% practical. It allows you, with no prior coding knowledge, to reorient your career towards one of the most in-demand areas in tech and become a full stack web developer. No classes, no exams, and no subjects. You'll be coding from day one with the personalised support of your mentor. With the program Full stack Web Developer you'll learn the most in-demand programming languages in front-end (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/MERN) and you have the option to move into back-end with Java development (optional).

MEET YOUR PERSONAL MENTOR

Your personal mentor is an experienced programmer and an expert in our methodology who will be by your side over the 3 months to help you solve issues, motivate you, and support you in each project, getting deeply involved in your learning process so that you achieve your goal: to launch a successful career as a web developer.

What You’ll Learn

I landed a job as a Web Developer Java before the course was up!

Why learn Full Stack web development?

To become a full employable web developer you need to learn the following basic programming languages:
.- HTML and CSS (to talk to the navigator) and develop static websites
.- JavaScript and REACT to give dynamism to your web site and build a mobile responsive application.
.- MERN. Mongo.db, Express, REACT and Node.js to build the backend using JavaScript.
.- Java, if you want to specialise in large and complex back-end systems.

Project 1

In just 2 weeks of the Web Development Java program you will have created your first website from scratch with HTML and CSS. Your task will be to design and code a website for a client, test it to verify that it complies with the W3C standards, and make sure it works on any web browser, always with the personalised support of your mentor, who will guide you in the different processes of design, creation, and testing.

“I don't have a background in graphic design nor in programming but I love what I'm learning because there are no limits to what you can make.”

Project 2

The Government of the United States has hired you to develop an interactive platform on which voters can see all of Congress' legislative activity. This will be your second project: to create a dynamic website with JavaScript, JSON, AJAX, and React, integrating current and real public data provided by US Congress.

In carrying out this project you will learn to develop algorithms to treat and segment information, and you will use JavaScript libraries such as jQuery to implement the user interface. Be sure to test and debug the code later!

Mari Potgieter

"As I had never programmed in JavaScript before, it was a challenge. But it was worth it because I learned new skills and the end result was a functional website that I can highlight in my portfolio."

Project 3

In your third project of the web development Java program, you will optimize a website for a client to make it responsive and look good across all devices by using Bootstrap, React and JavaScript. You will also learn how to code a real-time, synchronous chat for the website.

You'll use Firebase and jQuery to add user interface elements and improve the design and functionality of your first project at Ubiqum.

Marinos Petratos

"As a civil engineer, I had no experience in programming, yet in the third project, after just 5 weeks at Ubiqum, everything seemed possible!"

Project 4

In the second half of the course, you will create your first video game, the legendary "Battleship". How? By combining your knowledge of design and front-end programming acquired during the first few months with your new knowledge of Java, learned in this second phase of the course. By the end of the Web Development Java program, your game will be fully playable!

Part 1: Web Development Fundamentals

240 hours

€2400

  • Module 1: Front-End, HTML5, and CSS3

In this first five-week module, you will learn the basics of front-end development and create your first web pages using HTML5 and CSS3 languages. You will also learn how to report and plan your work in daily agile standups and get started with Flexbox.

You’ll act as a freelancer developing websites for small organizations. The Northside Youth Soccer League (NYSL) has hired you to develop a website for your soccer teams.

  • Module 2: JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, APIs, Bootstrap

After grasping the basics of coding, you will spend around 140 hours mastering one of the most-used languages in tech: JavaScript. Your goal in this project is to use JS to build an interactive web app composed of multiple public data sources. You will use APIs to gather JSON data and style your pages with Bootstrap.

In this module you’ll be a developer for “Code of the Web”, a software company that develops custom web applications in JavaScript. They’ve hired you to develop a follow-up website for the US Congress. You’ll work on this web application using JavaScript and some of its most commonly used frameworks, including jQuery, AJAX, JSON, APIs, and Bootstrap.

Part 2: MERN Stack with JavaScript

240 hours

€2200

  • Module 3: MERN Stack

This module introduces MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js, also known as the popular MERN stack. You will learn how to create JavaScript-based full-stack architecture by building an MVP for a mobile application that allows users to search and share trip itineraries.

With the MERN stack framework, you will create your backend setup with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB, and your front-end app with React. You’ll then be able to implement the entire framework from the front end in order to share data between React Components. The key technologies you’ll learn are: MongoDB, Express, Node.js, React, ES6 + JavaScript.

In Module 3, you’ve just been hired with a new development group specializing in front-end web apps. Your client wants to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for a new concept of a travel mobile application, called MYtinerary.com.

You’ll develop dynamic front-end UI elements, a server environment, and a database. You will deliver your MVP and test it out with real users, then determine what next steps you would like to prioritize before the product’s formal release.

Part 3: Java Programming

320 hours

€2400

  • Module 4: Java I

This module introduces the Java language and back-end development. You will develop a Battleship-style game, using Java, the Spring Boot framework, and IntelliJ, to set up the initial game pieces and rules and start defining different functionalities.

This module allows students to become immersed in the back-end world of Java and to implement the main architecture of a multiplayer online version of the popular game, Battleship. The basic idea of the game is to guess where the other player has hidden their boats. Students will create a game interface that graphically displays the status of each player, including the position of the ships, the damage suffered, and the scores. You will also learn how to develop a modern web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to handle all aspects of UI presentation and to use REST web services to handle multiple user access and communications, store data continuously, and implement the complex logic of the game.

  • Module 5: Java II

With your game architecture in place, it’s now time to make it playable. You will implement game mechanics, such as firing salvos, using Spring. Your gaming rules will require that you write some basic calculating algorithms and integrate them into your game.

In this last module of the course, students will use back-end programming with the necessary algorithms for the engine of the game.
